Purpose
The purpose of the Wilmot Athletics Hall of Fame is to recognize, honor, and celebrate athletes, coaches, and distinguished contributors who have brought distinction to themselves and Wilmot Union High School through outstanding athletic achievement, leadership, service, and long-standing contributions to Wilmot athletics.
Any individual may nominate a candidate for consideration by the Wilmot Union High School Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The following guidelines outline the general standards used when evaluating nominees.
General Guidelines
Nominees for the Wilmot Athletics Hall of Fame should meet the following expectations:
- Demonstrated outstanding athletic achievement during high school
- Achieved notable post–high school athletic accomplishments or success in non–school-sponsored athletic programs
- Maintained an honorable and respectable reputation that reflects positively on Wilmot Union High School
- Meets minimum eligibility requirements as defined and nominated in a timely manner
Criteria
Consideration of nominees for induction will include specific minimum criteria used to determine eligibility and viability. The general standards for nominations are outlined below.
All Nominations
- Demonstrated high levels of achievement, distinction, or service related to Wilmot athletics
- Strong character, judgment, and integrity that positively represent Wilmot Union High School
- No known criminal or unethical behavior that would reflect negatively on the school or district
Student-Athletes
- Must have graduated from Wilmot Union High School in 2016 or earlier
- Demonstrated outstanding athletic achievement during high school
- Achieved notable success after graduation in athletics
- Demonstrated excellence in non–school-sponsored athletic programs, where applicable
Coaches
- Must have a minimum of five years of head or assistant coaching service at Wilmot Union High School
- Demonstrated competitive success and long-standing contributions to the athletic program
- Eligible for induction after five years removed from the program or 15 years of coaching service at the school
- Achieved conference championships and/or qualified teams for Sectional competition
Distinguished Service
- Recognized for exceptional service, contribution, or support of Wilmot athletics
- Nominated by committee only
- No separation period required for service-based nominees
Additional Provisions
- Individuals may be nominated in multiple categories but may only be inducted once
- Plaques may be updated to include coaching and/or distinguished service recognition
- Nominations submitted in one year will remain eligible for consideration in future years
Selection Committee
The Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee will consist of the Athletic Director, Community Outreach Coordinator, two to three coaches representing both genders, and two to three volunteer community members, which may include former athletes, former coaches, or Booster Club members.
Inaugural Class
The inaugural Wilmot Athletics Hall of Fame class will include ten total inductees.
