This course will give students a basic knowledge of Spanish in order to prepare them for a job or career in which they may have Spanish speaking co-workers. Students will demonstrate the ability to understand simple Spanish vocabulary and conduct a simple conversation with correct grammar usage and pronunciation. The semester long course will include knowledge of basic geography, history and culture of Mexico, Central America, South America and Puerto Rico. | Top | |

A higher level of language proficiency will be achieved. The course will be taught in the German language, and student use of the language on a daily basis is expected. Reading literature, writing short essays, and speaking in German will be emphasized, and some larger projects will be completed. Discussions pertaining to the German culture, history and current issues will be held on a regular basis. Previously learned grammar concepts will be reviewed and mastered, in addition to learning the remaining grammatical concepts of the language. |

| GAPP(German – American Partnership Program) (WDL412) Prerequisite: Enrollment in a German course Credit: 0.25 Grades: 9-12, with priority given to Sophomores and Juniors |
This is your chance to visit another country. In order to participate you must start German as a Freshman or Sophomore. GAPP is an exchange program between student from Wilmot and St. Katarina Gymnasium in Oppenheim, Germany. This is an opportunity to learn about the German culture and people outside of the classroom. By attending monthly meetings before the trip, students will learn about cultural differences and survival speaking skills that they will then use while in Germany. Three weeks are spent hosting a German students (usually in September and October), and three weeks are spent in Germany (usually in June and July). A cumulating project will be finished upon completion of this experience. | Top | |
| AP Spanish (WDL501) Prerequisite: Spanish IV or concurrent enrollment in Spanish IV Credit: 1.00 Grades: 12 |
This course is designed for the 5th year Spanish student. The AP course in Spanish language is designed to parallel the skill development of a third year college course in advanced composition and conversation. The course will focus on the mastery of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, rather than the content of specific texts. Student swill read at least one novel in Spanish per semester. Students will write one research paper in the Spanish language. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take the AP Exam in May. The cost of the exam is paid for by the student. |
